A gated community. A wedding. A death that isn't an accident.
Everyone in this group has a reason to lie. Only one of them has killed to keep it that way. In development.
A new thriller is in development. It sits outside both continuing series, though it shares their preoccupation: the distance between what a group of people present and what they have agreed, silently, never to examine.
The setting is a gated community — a place designed around the promise that what happens inside it stays a private matter. The occasion is a wedding, which is to say an event where the entire social group is assembled, performing, and highly motivated for nothing to go wrong. Then someone dies, and the death does not survive scrutiny as an accident.
What makes the situation difficult is not a shortage of suspects. It is that everyone present is already lying about something, and most of those lies have nothing to do with the death. They are the ordinary lies that hold a group like this together: about money, about property, about who owes whom and why. Under pressure, all of them surface at once, and each one looks exactly as incriminating as the real one.
Only one person in the group has killed to protect what they are hiding. Everyone else is simply protecting themselves — which, it turns out, is all the cover the killer needs.
More as it develops. The title has not been announced.
